OU Health Services offers students, faculty, staff and dependents a broad range of services which are provided by our experienced nursing staff. Some of the more popular services are Allergy Injections, Travel Immunizations, Childhood Immunizations, and General Injections such as Depo-Provera and hormone injections. All of these types of injections are available by appointment Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-11:50 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.-3:50 p.m. Just call 325-4441 and select option 2. Be sure to inform the receptionist of the type of injection you require.

OU Health Services also offers an RN Information Line. If you need test results, a prescription refilled or need advice about a medical condition just call 325-4441 and press 3. If you are connected to a voice-mail, be sure to give us your phone number, name, I.D number, the best time for the nurse to call back, and most importantly your question/reason for your call.

Allergy Injections

3. Is testing for allergies performed at OU Health Services?
No, testing for allergies must be performed at a speciality clinic such as the Oklahoma Allergy Clinic. ^ Allergy Injections | ^ Top of Page

4. Why do I have to wait after my Allergy injection?
Patients are required to wait 20 minutes after receiving allergy injections. The wait reduces the possibility of a reaction occuring outside the Center where medical help may not be readily available. Childhood Immunizations

1. Does OU Health Services administer childhood immunizations?

Yes, we recommend that you schedule “Well-Baby” checks with a physician to ensure proper health development. Just after the well-baby check, a nurse will administer the appropriate immunizations as directed by the provider according to the recommendations of the State of Oklahoma Health Department.  ^ Childhood Immunizations | ^ Top of Page

2. What ages are immunizations recommended?
Generally, there are immunizations recommended for newborn, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12-18 months, 24 months, 2 1/2 years, and 4-6 years.  ^ Childhood Immunizations | ^ Top of Page

3. How many immunizations are safe to get at one time?
The recommended age specific immunizations are safe to give at the same time. There are no contraindications to simultaneous administrations of any of the childhood vaccines.  ^ Childhood Immunizations | ^ Top of Page

4. How much do immunizations cost?
Cost may vary depending on the number and type of injections. It is also dependent on state assistance eligibility. General Immunizations

Travel Immunizations

1. Does OU Health Services administer Travel Immunizations?
Yes. By appointment. If possible, you should schedule your appointment six months prior to your departure. If you are unable to schedule that far in advance, please schedule as soon as possible. 2. How do I find out what travel immunizations I need?
First, you should bring any immunization records you have to the OU Health Services for a review during your appointment. The nurse will then determine which immunizations are required and which immunizations are recommended.
