1. What are the hours of the pharmacy?

The OU Health Services Pharmacy is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are closed on all University holidays.  ^ Pharmacy FAQ | ^ Top

2. Who is eligible to use the OU Health Services Pharmacy?
Only OU students, faculty, and staff and their immediate dependents may use the OU Health Services Pharmacy. We are unable to fill prescriptions for other members of the community.  ^ Pharmacy FAQ | ^ Top

3. Do I have to have my OU Photo ID?
YES. No exceptions. Drivers' licenses and other forms of ID are not acceptable.  ^ Pharmacy FAQ | ^ Top

4. How can I pay for my medicine?
Students may pay for both prescriptions and over-the-counter medications by cash, check, or credit card/debit card or may charge their medicine to their bursar's account. Student health plan member must pay their prescription co-pays at the time of service. OU faculty and staff and their dependents (even if they are also OU students) must pay by cash, check, or credit card/debit card at the time of service.  ^ Pharmacy FAQ | ^ Top

5. Can I get prescriptions from non-OUHS doctors filled at the pharmacy?
Sure! You can bring us your prescription or ask your doctor to call it into the OU Health Services pharmacy.  ^ Pharmacy FAQ | ^ Top

6. When does a prescription expire?
Most prescriptions are good for one year from the date on which they were written. Certain classes of controlled drugs may be good for only 6 months or 5 days after the written date; please contact the pharmacy for more information.  ^ Pharmacy FAQ | ^ Top

7. Do you accept insurance cards?
We can electronically file your claim with many insurance carriers. In the event that we are not connected to your insurance company, we will provide you with a receipt so you can file a paper claim with them. Please give us your insurance card or inform us of any changes in your insurance before we fill your prescription. The OU Health Services pharmacy is a preferred provider for Aetna (the insurance provider for OU faculty and staff). Your insurance company may have special requirements regarding which doctors you may see (some will not pay for prescriptions except from the plan's own doctors). You are responsible for checking with your insurance company to make sure you follow their rules. The OU Health Services Pharmacy cannot be responsible if you fail to follow your insurance company's policies and they refuse payment for your medicine.  ^ Pharmacy FAQ | ^ Top

8. Can I get prescriptions transferred to/from another pharmacy?
Sure! In order to get a precription transferred to the OU Health Services, please bring us the other pharmacy's bottle or container (preferred) or call the OU Health Services Pharmacy and provide us with the name and number of the other pharmacy and the prescription numbers which you wish to have transferred. To transfer a OU Health Services Pharmacy prescription to another pharmacy, call the other pharmacy or take them your bottle and ask them to call the OU Health Services pharmacy. Federal and State law prohibit the transfer of prescriptions for controlled substances (narcotics and certain other types of prescriptions). 9. What if I need a refill on my prescription?
Your bottle will indicate in the lower left-hand corner whether or not there are refills remaining on your prescription. If there are refills remaining, you may call the pharmacy and request your refill by phone. Please have your prescription number (from your label) ready when you call. The prescription will then be ready to pick up when you come in. It normally takes only a few minutes to get your prescription ready. If your prescription does not have any refills remaining, please contact your doctor or provider.  ^ Pharmacy FAQ | ^ Top
